St. Doumit School-Memorial Fund Library

$35,000

The St. Doumit School is located in Roumieh, Lebanon and associated with the Antonine Sisters Congregation. The school provides an education to 1,074 students from 25 villages and towns in the Metn region.

EOL sponsored the Michel and Marjorie Saad Memorial Library at the St. Doumit School. The goal was to provide students and teachers with a new and readily equipped library. This library has improved the school experience, increased academic outcomes, and attracted more students to the school. This donation was $35,000 and was the first capital project EOL completed since the Lebanese economic crisis.

To further express the impact which the library had on the students, Selena Abu Daher, a student of Saint Doumit School shared her love of the library. She states: “The library became my best friend during my high school years, where we learned something new every week. With the help of the upgraded library, we discovered new things we had never thought about researching before. We also got to know Lebanese authors who left a mark in our culture and country. The activities we had in the new library have left a lasting impression on me. The impact of the project has been felt throughout our school community, creating an environment where we can pursue our interests and gain valuable knowledge. The upgraded facilities have made a significant difference in our learning experience.”

In addition, the project manager, Rita Sleiman, talked to students to get their viewpoints on the library. She explains that “they mentioned that the library had a very positive impact on them, and they were motivated to come to school and study because they had access to the library.”

In conclusion, this memorial fund project completed by EOL has changed the lives of many students at the St. Doumit School. The library is providing them with countless opportunities and experiences which they would not have encountered without our help.
